[very unprofessionally holds a painting up to my webcam]
Believe it or not, I painted this when I was in high school. The colors are better in person- it’s a painting I still really adore, actually! It’s so well-composed, especially given where I was at the time….
I’ve been trying to remember what state of mind I went into making this? A little naive, but excited?
I wish I hadn’t dislocated my right arm shortly after painting this that year. 8I ;;; I think I might’ve had some much better work, if painting didn’t become so difficult after the injury and following surgery….

I was asked yesterday for some owl-drawing advice…

The problem was that my friend was having trouble drawing a spooky owl; all his owls were turning out to be really cute. :| ;; I have this problem too, and I mean- owls have such squat, fluffy bodies and faces, it’s hard not to make them adorable. But I worked on it…

Most of my advice to make them scarier has to do with the face:

Drawn for a sort of emailer; illustrating a major update…
It’s premature perhaps, but I drew it to announce that I’m looking for work across the country. I’ll have to keep you guys updated on how that goes.

being friends with artists to get free drawings doesn’t even work!!!! i am an artist and i cant even give myself free drawings

(by the by, I’ll have to stick to digital art for a while, as I’m in the process of moving- and a tablet and sketchbook are about as much as I can keep close at hand.)

I decided that I needed a new facebook cover image. :|
Diamond dove defines me at the moment— that and I love drawing birds.

Burnt out. I’ve been trying to get a lot of important things done lately, taking care of life things, and including trying to exercise and diet again—

Maybe it’s a lot all at once. But I can only get stronger as I go, right?

Wait I should draw something for New Year’s.

Like a unicorn or something.

From a livestream some time ago!
As usual, it features an RP scene, in which Kars and Hilda had a serious talk in her garden… (of which Kars is a fan)

lulasaurus sent: Since you posted about Khutulun earlier, I wanted to let you know about the gem I found, a book called "Princesses Behaving Badly" by Linda Rodriguez Mcrobbie which is a collection of retellings of famous "princesses" throughout history who were rounded and badass and remarkable. I know it's not totally in the scope of your blog, but I just read the Khutulun story and then saw your post! Many, many adventures of amazing women of color are detailed.

[drawn on my notepad at work, where this happened]
I really was trying to psyche myself up for work, even though I had an early shift on the day before Thanksgiving.
guy found a way to ruin the shift before it’d even started. the “up-down” look and everything. yuck.

took some very VERY quick notes of the effects of light streaming in through a window and hitting a warm-colored wood… the light looked very cool, but the highlights were quite yellow, and reflected a fiery orange from the wood onto the floor…
It really did need to be super fast because I’ve got to leave for work, like…
now…!;;
Before I go, I’ve considered doing a, instead of NaNoWriMo, a sort of… NaPoBuiMo? “Portfolio Building Month?” Every day lets try to make a portfolio piece, or work on one.
It’s an idea I’m stewing on, on this first day of November.
Anyway- bye for now lovelies!!
